The following article appeared in the Hereford Times newspaper for Thursday, 31st of March 2011:
"Smith family photo shows up 'ghost' next to grandson in Hereford"
ONE county family claims to have proof that a property does not need to be ancient for it to be haunted.
Pensioner Fred Smith’s grandson Sirus appeared to have a mysterious playmate in tow when his mother Sarah Walsh snapped the five-year-old on her mobile phone.
“If she lived in an old house or if there was a cupboard with a reflection or something fair enough, but she lives in a 1950s house in Redhill – we have no idea who this might be."

Fred, from St Weonards, said he and his wife Julie were “gobsmacked” when Sarah emailed the picture over shortly after she took it at home in Hereford.
“If she lived in an old house or if there was a cupboard with a reflection or something fair enough, but she lives in a 1950s house in Redhill – we have no idea who this might be,” Fred said.
“She goes to mediums quite a lot and a friend of hers called Pete, who has ‘the gift’, previously said he felt a little girl in the house.”
Since then more strange events have followed, Fred claims, after the image was inexplicably wiped from Sarah’s phone and her Facebook page.
“Pete says it’s a little girl but I can’t make up my mind - whoever it is obviously does not want to be seen though,” he added.
Sadly, it has to be said that the photograph accompanying the article concerned certainly seems to fall short of being any form of evidence for paranormal activity in the house involved.....
Unfortunately, following hot on the heels of the so-called Orb Phenomenon, we now appear to have a glut of poorly photo-shopped, semi-transparent figures appearing on images. As one national newspaper reporter pointed out to a W.M.G.C. member recently: "I've seen hundreds of these pictures lately - you can now get an app for your mobile phone that actually creates these types of image......!"

Yes, as correctly suggested this is the work of the 'Ghost Capture' iPhone App. At least it makes a pleasant change from all those orbs! All the best, Andrew Homer.
It is so fake I would be ashamed to put it on my site. Making a mockery of your site and any other ghost investigations.
Thanks Andy - I think this blummin app makes up at least 90% of alleged 'ghost photographs' turning up over the last year or so matey! Laugh!!! All the best!!
Re. the comment by Anonymous: despite it's blatantly 'fake' appearance, there is still an extremely strong point to publicising / publishing this sort of image. At the end of the day, this type of shenanigan makes up a considerable percentage of the so-called paranormal field currently and, as such, deserves as much (if not perhaps more) coverage than (alleged) genuine photographs. As researchers, it's our job to view the overall field, be it potential phantom, blatant fraud and innocent mistake....
